So who are you, really?
We’re all on this wild ride called life, right? And every now and then, we hit these big, life-changing moments. We usually share these with friends, family, and/or anyone who wil listen! But you know what’s tricky? Trying to figure out who we are, deep down, without all the noise from the outside world.
Here’s the thing, we’re constantly being told how to act, what to do, and even who to be. And with all that noise, it’s so easy to lose sight of our real selves. Sometimes, we end up wearing masks, trying to fit into a mold that just wasn’t made for us.
My amazing friend, Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani, wrote this life-changing book, Becoming Flawesome. She had this lightbulb moment when a friend said they’d missed her. And Kristina thought, “I missed me too.”
This sparked her to write this book, which pretty much sums up ten years of therapy and self-discovery. It’s all about recognizing your true self and shedding the masks you’ve been wearing. It’s a real eye-opener, especially when it comes to the rat race we often find ourselves in, chasing after ‘success’. The real deal? Happiness isn’t about winning this race. It’s about stepping off the track and rediscovering who we are.
The Magic of Self-Reflection
So, how do you start this journey? It’s all about taking a little time each day for self-reflection. Just a few minutes to jot down your thoughts, or maybe a quick meditation session. This quiet time is perfect for exploring what’s going on inside your head and heart. You might even spot some patterns that have been holding you back.
In my own journey, meditation and mindfulness have been game-changers. I used to think that I had to be ‘better’. But I realized that was just my ego talking. We often get stuck in this mindset of ‘failure’ vs ‘success’. It’s just a survival strategy, and it’s especially common in teenagers.
Courage, Love, and Living Your Truth
So, how do we break out of survival mode? It’s about finding the courage to be totally honest with yourself. It’s about filling your heart with so much love and acceptance for who you are. And most importantly, it’s about living life on your own terms.
Remember, this journey is all about you. Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in what other people think or expect. But at the end of the day, it’s your life, and you get to decide who you are and what you want from it.
Kristina’s book Becoming Flawesome is an amazing guide to starting your own journey of self-discovery. You can grab a copy on Kristina’s website, any major bookstore in the USA, and of course, Amazon.
