Baked Potato Chips Recipe That’s Outta This World
There’s no need to give up chips when baked potato chips is an option. Baked, not fried, is where it’s at. One of the things that I hear from clients time and time again is the tempting, irresistible call of the potato chip. The common saying that you “can’t stop at just one” is completely true.
Why are chips so alluring? Some people say it is the satisfying crunch that does it. Others swear it’s the salty goodness that’s so enticing. Either way, most chips are, unfortunately, overloaded with unhealthy ingredients and preservatives. Thankfully, we can take matters into our own hands and reach for this quick and simple baked potato chip recipe.
The great news is that we can have real deal potato chips that will satisfy our cravings and leave us wondering why we ever opted for store-brand in the first place. These chips are called “Outta This World” for a good reason – made fresh with a little sea salt, they satisfy crunch and salt cravings without the drawbacks of hydrogenated oils, trans fats, and unnecessary sugars.
The truth is that most people don’t even entertain the idea of making chips, fearful of not getting the recipe or method “right.” I’m kicking this myth to the curb by assuring you that making your own baked potato chips is so easy a cavewoman could do it. All you need is a hot oven, a good knife, a couple of potatoes, and, of course, a generous amount of Himalayan salt.
Himalayan salt contains calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, potassium, and many other minerals that delight the taste buds while infusing the body with a lovely grounding frequency. This pure, pink-hued salt offers you many more benefits than its more popular counterpart – ie., regular table salt.
- 2 medium potatoes. [I used gold, organic]
- 2 tsp. olive oil
- Himalayan salt, to taste
- Preheat the oven to 450F
- Prep a baking sheet with parchment paper .
- Using a sharp knife, food processor attachment, or mandoline , thinly slice the potatoes.
- Toss potatoes with oil and salt in medium size bowl or you can go to the next step and lightly coat each side with oil while on the cookie sheet using a silicone brush .
- Layer in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-17 minutes, turning after 10 min.
- Remove any that seem ready or about to burn completely.
- Once baked, remove from oven and let cool for 2-5 min.
Leaving out the laborious and nutrient-stripping production processes that commercial chips are subject to, we enjoy a light, healthy, high-energy food that satisfies our need for crunch. Whip up a batch of Outta This World Chips, wait impatiently while they cool, then munch without abandon!
